HTHS admissions timeline for fall 2027 entry

Every published date for High Technology High School Grade 9 admission: applications close November 30, 2026, and the admissions test is January 9, 2027.

High Technology High School (HTHS) in Lincroft, New Jersey takes applications from Monmouth County eighth graders until November 30, 2026, and its admissions test is on January 9, 2027. This guide lists every published date for fall 2027 entry in the order families meet them, using the Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) and HTHS pages.

The short version

If your student is in eighth grade and your family lives in Monmouth County, your student can apply. The application is online, it closes November 30, 2026, and MCVSD says late applications will not be accepted. Students may apply to only one MCVSD Career Academy, so the application is considered for only one school.

Who can apply

MCVSD and HTHS set the same basic rule. Prospective students must be in eighth grade and be full-time residents of Monmouth County. HTHS repeats that applicants must live in the county at the time of application.

Students who live in Monmouth County but attend school outside the county need verification of Monmouth County residency from that school. Ask for it early, since it comes from a third party.

The dates, in order

| Date | What happens | | --- | --- | | September through November | HTHS information sessions, offered four times a year | | October 1, 2026 | The Grade 9 application window opens | | November 30, 2026 | Application deadline | | December 18, 2026 | MCVSD must receive documents from your school, postmarked by this date | | January 9, 2027 | Admissions test, with a picture ID | | About four to six weeks after exams are scored | Processing is complete, according to MCVSD | | April 29, 2027 | Freshman orientation | | May 4, 2027 | Mathematics and Spanish placement tests | | July 5 to August 6, 2027 | Summer Geometry or Algebra course, for students who need it |

MCVSD does not publish a single decision date. The four to six week range is the only guidance we found, so plan around that range and check the district page for updates.

Step 1: Attend an information session

MCVSD requires that applicants attend at least one information session at the Career Academy they plan to apply to. HTHS offers its sessions four times a year from September through November. A family attends only one of the four, and for the first three sessions the student can bring up to two parents.

HTHS asks for pre-registration, and some of the later sessions have filled up. If you have not attended yet, open the HTHS information sessions page and check whether any session still has room. If none does, contact the school and ask what it recommends.

Step 2: Apply online before November 30

Applications are submitted through the MCVSD online portal. When you submit, you receive a Confirmation Page and an Application Checklist. MCVSD asks you to print both and give them to a school counselor or principal.

That handoff matters, because the school then sends documents to MCVSD. MCVSD says it must receive them postmarked by December 18, 2026. Give the printout to the counselor well before winter break.

Step 3: Sit the admissions test on January 9

The test is on January 9, 2027, and a picture ID is required. A school ID, a passport, a county ID or a picture ID form is accepted. The exam covers mathematics and English language arts and is based on the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. The next guide in this series explains how it is scored.

Step 4: Wait for results

MCVSD says it takes approximately four to six weeks for all processing to be completed after all exams are scored. We could not find a published notification date, so we do not give one here. Because families can apply to only one Career Academy, it is worth asking your student's school counselor about the rest of your high school plan while you wait.

After an offer

HTHS lists freshman orientation on April 29, 2027 and placement tests in mathematics and Spanish on May 4, 2027. Students who have not taken Algebra I, or who do not show proficiency in algebra on the placement test, take a summer Geometry or Algebra course from July 5 to August 6, 2027.

What is not published

A few things are not on the pages we reviewed, and we left them out rather than guess:

  • An application fee or tuition. We found none on the MCVSD or HTHS pages.
  • An exact decision date for fall 2027.
  • A 2027 seat count or admit rate. HTHS says it selects seventy-five students each year from a pool of over three hundred applicants, but it does not publish a 2027 figure.

A practical plan

1. Confirm your Monmouth County address, and request residency verification if your student attends school outside the county. 2. Check the HTHS information sessions page for any session that still has room. 3. Submit the online application before November 30, 2026. 4. Print the Confirmation Page and Checklist and give them to your school counselor or principal. 5. Put January 9, 2027 on the calendar and find an acceptable picture ID.
